Dreaming yourself to sleep re-blog

If you’e insane that makes two of us! I’m reblogging with a referral to an interesting article:  Jellinek, Augustus. Spontaneous Imagery.  American Journal of Psychotherapy,  1949,  3, 372-391.  In addition: Waking Dreams, by Mary M. Watkins, Harper & Row, 1976.  I don’t want to detract from the beauty of the poem, but the topic of imagining is a welcomed one to me.

The Darkest Fairytale

I dream myself to sleep
It is like a movie
Just very deep.
Only to discover
This is not normal,
Others can not relate
To my magical portal.
This technique
Is all I’ve ever known,
To close my eyes
& travel to other zones.
I am fully aware
Of what fantasy I create,
As these dreams lead
To my unconscious state.
So I close my eyes
And I set the scene
The brain takes over
Somewhere inbetween.
Someone tell me
They do the same,
Do you dream to sleep
Or am I just insane?

About Nan Mykel

At 79, I was just about to stop keeping a journal, but that felt like accepting that growth was finished. I don't want to be finished, yet! I'm 80 now, and struggling to communicate with you, if you'll come and set awhile. P.S. My how time flies! I'm 83 now.
