SILLY?

I have realized that  I’ve been preaching to the choir.  What do you think the real usefulness of it is?

I don’t purposefully follow MAGA people so they don’t read my blog, and I don’t want to contend with their hate and lack of reason. I only recently received one comment from a MAGA person, but that was because Word Press seemed to recommend or at least call attention to  it.   I was polite in my response, but failed to Follow.  Several years earlier I had received another from a chance visitor I had “Followed” by mistake, and I undid it.  I’m unclear if fellow bloggers can “Press” something or only ask Word Press to do it., or if it can invite MAGA persuaders on its own.

How do you deal with seeming to preach to the choir?  How can it not be a waste of time and what is your own solution?   Please share in your Comments or tell me how to extend the comments back and forth.

I don’t have the energy to knock on doors and I resent any who do, whatever their spiel, and I don’t answer phone calls from unknowns.  I seem to resent personal efforts to minipulate me in any way and perhaps that’s a problem it’s too late to tackle….

Sanders on Sunday did not hold back his frustration, claiming that “people like Manchin” are “intentionally sabotaging the president’s agendawhat the American people want, what a majority of us in the Democratic caucus want.”

“The problem was that we continued to talk to Manchin like he was serioushe was not,” Sanders said. “This is a guy who’s a major recipient of fossil fuel money, a guy who has received campaign contributions from 25 Republican billionaires.”

Why Does He Not VOTE WITH HIS PARTY?  I reckon one reason is that money talks loud.  His pockets are stuffed with  the most funding from  fossil fuel PACs,  From May 2020 to May 2021 he received the most funding from the oil and gas industry of any senator, including $1.6 million in donations from fossil fuel PACs…

NAN SEZ;  That’s in addition to others sabotaging our democratic way of life.  Will the people wake up in time?

An open letter to the free World…

Dear (free) World,

Trump and his immoral, corrupt regime do not speak for the vast majority of us here in America.  They have subverted democracy and made it difficult or impossible for us to have a voice, especially in the voting booths, since they have rigged the system so it seems only they can win.  Using machiavellian, underhanded tricks and machinations, with little to no transparency, they have succeeded in taking the reigns of power and now they have a huge advantage over the People.

I am so ashamed of our nation right now.  I am so sorry that our heartless and amoral leader has chosen the suffering and torture of innocents, the wanton destruction of the earth for personal and financial gain, and the constant lies he tells to paint over the truth.  I am sorry he does not value empathy, kindness, being a good neighbor to our allies, and being a good steward of the earth.  I am sorry he has aligned us with the cruelest and most inhumane dictatorships in the world, as he continues to cut off former ties with our true allies: other western democracies.  I am sorry he targets our most vulnerable citizens for abuse (the sick, poor, young people, People of Color, the disabled, LGBTQ, Muslims, Latin Americans, migrants who just want a chance at a good life, etc.) and hardworking Latin American citizens who are already here, who work hard and help our economy, while he continues to reward parasitic greedy billionaires and environment destroying corporations that do nothing but take, and take, and take from We the People.  We’re being extracted by these predators, and yet we are the ones who are gaslighted and blamed for being the takers, even when we’re working three jobs to survive.

We are sorry he has empowered the worst among us, people who are blinded by their hatred of others who don’t look or pray or act just like them, and others of very low character.  Please know most of us see what he is doing,  and we hate it as much as you do.   Our hearts are breaking that we can do so little, but we are still trying everything we can to fight back against the forces of evil.  It’s so hard and exhausting though, and we seem to have so few tools at our disposal.

To the rest of the free world, we are so very sorry.  This isn’t what America is really about.  We have been hijacked.

Please don’t give up on us.  We may need your help. Most of us are good people who wish this wasn’t happening.

I KNOW BIG RED RIDER DOESN’T RHYME

BIG RED RIDER

Not so long ago, in the normal

world of things, a little woman

on her way to visit grandma met

a big red wolf in sheep’s clothing.

“You can trust me,” he said with

a grin, “She’s my grandma too and

I want to see who she voted for.”

 

The little woman became scared when

the wolf’s teeth began to show from

under the sheep’s pearly white skin,

and she feared for grandma’s health.

“I’m going on a picnic” she protested,

“on a restful picnic.” “Well who did you

vote for, my pretty?”

 

“I cannot tell a lie: Bernie.”

Big Red huffed and he puffed and he

grew red in the face too.  “Can you prove

you’re a citizen and not a wetback?

Your hair is black, unlike mine, so

the ICE team may grab you and grandma

too. If you’re not for me you’re ag’in me.”

 

Oh where was the brave hunter who

would step out and save her?  Was he

already fired for being too sharp?

“Fie fie, sir” she cried out hotly—

“How many of the 10 Commandments

have you broken in office?  Mueller,

my brave hunter will arrive at last.”

 

So perhaps the normal world of things

will return without whimper and

the denizens of Make Believe Land

will shine with the child’s regained hope

that love can be gentle, respectful and

honest, and that truth is no longer a

carelessly tossed flapjack.

 

FIX YOUR OWN HAMBURGER!

I didn’t know until I looked it up that a federal law allows waitpersons to be paid only half the minimum wage.  The restaurant owners must have a powerful lobby, because  The Trump Labor Department now wants to give control of waitpersons’ tips  to their bosses.  It’s one of Trump’s  vengeful moves to undo Obama’s safeguards. Oh wait–Trump owns restaurants too, doesn’t he.

 

 

Funeral for Net Neutrality

IT’S OVER; DONE FOR.  The FCC today did away with rules barring internet providers from blocking or slowing down access to online content. The FCC would also eliminate a rule barring providers from prioritizing their own content.  According to CNN, during the vote the room had to be emptied due to a security alert.  THE BIG GUYS WON AGAIN.  (Now I’ll probably be the slowest on their list).  LATE P.S.:  I

Today is Independence Day in the United States, and across this great land we mark the occasion with the iconic images of parades, fireworks, waving flags and blackened weenies on the grill. But one thing you rarely see is the actual image of what this holiday is all about. There it is up above, the Declaration of Independence.

Penned in 1776, the Declaration of Independence set forth principles that should make every American proud.
