Fast Descent – for d’Verse

 FAST DESCENT     4-25-75

Hurtling through the mirror maze

young-old embryo. Contorted, misshapen,

falling back one eye. Cry “Please!” Cyclops crazy

beady, heavy. Where am I?

Who?

Brown, old contankerous brazen

witch bitch delirious. Stop! Simple smirky

purple prude. I  am the glamorous sham.

Damn.

Staccato waltz, loping trot, forget-me-not, do.

Who?

Who is that spinning, passing prisms

fancifully, fragmented to pieces. Vertigo.

Butch fem all of them am I–Please, no.

Red. Gaping maws dirty paws

shiny smelly ripened belly.

Yes, no, true. My God

hell-o.

About Nan Mykel

At 79, I was just about to stop keeping a journal, but that felt like accepting that growth was finished. I don't want to be finished, yet! I'm 80 now, and struggling to communicate with you, if you'll come and set awhile. P.S. My how time flies! I'm 82 now.

  3. Yes! Excellent. There’s no such thing as an ambience Nan. Poetry isn’t about fitting into a group. Love the poem! Hope to see more.

  4. It fits where it fits 🙂 I like the energy in this poem, and the linking rhymes, full of questions and the answers? Who has them?

It’s a brilliant hurtling down dangerous cliff faces, or at least that’s the impression it gives me, not quite able to brake or stop…

Doesn’t matter whether it fits with the rest or not. This has great appeal. And something to chew on. Brava!
