I know this is silly but sometimes I can’t stop myself:

People stop me on the street and ask where I get the ideas for my verses. I refuse to tell them. But I’ll tell YOU:
They come to me while doing time on the Nu-Step exercise machine at Heart Works in Athens, Ohio. The first 15 minutes I keep my eyes closed and thoughts burst out against the dark curtain of my ocular background. The next 15 minutes, while I’m huffing and puffing, my eyes open and I drink in emanations from the forest overlooking the Hock-Hocking River, just outside the windows. If that doesn’t work then I daydream while I drive…carefully.
So there you have it…or do you?
