O is for Old
People use the word “old”
in many ways but as one ages
one may observe its variant use
What’s that you say?
ages?! don’t be so obtuse!
what word would then make YOU
more comfortable about aging?
Well, maturing or developing.
a child develops…he does not age.
a teenager moves onto another stage
a twenty something may move on
to maturing into adulthood
that is not aging!!
Semantics, my dear, semantics!
I beg to differ on this and gather
you must be old
to go on with these antics;
the word “old” may only insult
some of an older generation…
hearing it, however, may result
with feelings hurt
for some may sense
that word so curt
they’ll clench their fists
and get all tense.
Well, um, I’m not that…old
but I am older than my colleagues
older than most
