What more can I add?”

So yesterday was Spread the Word to End the Word day.  A movement to remove the words retard/retarded from our society.  This was suppose to be a day of awareness and support for all these wonderful people who never deserve to be put down.  Just a day for the community to rally around these kids to help make the world safer and more accepting for them.  Sounds great right!?

Unfortunately, there are some mean, cruel, horrible people in our world!  A few families that I follow on Instagram posted beautiful photos of their children and asked others to help end the word.  These kids range from 1 year to 10 years old.  Beautiful little kids with amazing families that love and cherish them.  On these public posts, people actually used yesterday to attack these innocent kids!!  Leaving mean messages about how their kids were not beautiful, how we need to…

Spread the Word to end the Word

Published March 3, 2016 by Nan Mykel
” RETARDED”    adoptingjana.wordpress.com

I’ve used this word in the past.  I’ve said to to describe things I didn’t like or agree with.  I’ve said it with no regard to how it could hurt someone to their very core.  I have added to the spread of this word.  Since Jana has come into our lives, I cringe any time I overhear this word used.  A small part of my breaks because I know that most likely one day I will pick Jana up from school and she will be in tears because someone called her that name.  I will have to hold her and explain to her that people are mean sometimes.  And that they don’t always understand how bad words can hurt us.  Then I will send her back to school and pray another day will pass where she isn’t torn down.

Today, March 2nd, is national Spread the word to End the Word day.  You can actually visit R-Word.org  and sign an online pledge to promise to not use the R-word again.  You can read stories from amazing kids who have been broken by this word.  To see how such a small word can dramatically affect so many lives.

Join the movement and help remove this demeaning word from our society!!

SHATTERED BOUNDARIES

A 21ST CENTURY WOMAN LEAVES HER BODY BEHIND

This fictionized novel builds upon centuries of beliefs of Hinduism and the Kabbalah to the effect that one’s spirit form can leave the body and travel, more recently referred to as OOBES (out-of-body-experiences).   The ability to leave her body follows a near-death experience, after having been struck by lightning.  She reads the literature on the phenomenon, and learns that it is dangerous  to stay away from the corporeal body for too long a time. However, she has become involved in situations that demanded her (invisible) participation, and when she finally returns to her home, she finds that  her funeral is in progress.

AN EXCERPT:

Night sounds grow fainter and she becomes aware that she is flying–or being flown–once more, and that she is surrounded by all manner of shapes and forms. Of course that is the question: Are they life forms or death forms?  Living or dead? They extend to the horizon, in all directions, but there is space between them. Some of the beings are entering or leaving what appear to be vast portals…Wherever this may be, there is no welcoming committee.

Inner Demon

Your poem reminds me very much of the first poem on my “Shadow Selves” page. I’d be curious if anything on my ‘INCEST” page is useful to you. Both are thru nanmykel.com. You write impassioned poetry…I’m reblogging onto both of my pages.

A demon in me that lies await,
For me to crash into an awful state,
At that point it wakes and crawls,
To get to my conscious through the walls.

A hideous creature that’s full of rage,
Ready to self-destruct at any stage,
It just waits there deep inside,
Until it can no longer be controlled or hide.

For when I crash I begin to boil,
My control is gone, it’s no longer loyal,
Instead the locked box comes alive,
With so many memories ready to revive.

Finding the key to close it shut,
Is one of a kind that can’t be cut,
It’s has a maze in its secret location,
To keep it open to feed my frustration.

A haul of questions I can not answer,
It’s more aggressive than any cancer,
It crawls under skin and gets in your head,
Loving the destruction that keeps it fed.

Are you right? Am I wrong?
Are you wrong? Am I right?

You call my freedom immorality.
I call your freedom slavery.

Are you right? Am I wrong?
Are you wrong? Am I right?

You kneel and bow.
I am still standing.

Are you right? Am I wrong?
Are you wrong? Am I right?

You dream of an afterlife,
I live each very moment.

Are you right? Am I wrong?
Are you wrong? Am I right?

You want to change me,
I even don’t think about changing you.

Are you right? Am I wrong?
Are you wrong? Am I right?

Could you forgive me?
Could I forgive you?

Who’s right? Who’s wrong?

PART 3

THE GESTALT APPROACH TO DREAMS

Fritz Perls felt that the dream was a projection–that all components in the dream, large or small, human or non-human,  are projections  (representations) of the dreamer. “The dream is you–all of it.”  He suggests we regard every image in our dream to be an alienated part of ourselves.  He asks the dreamer to act the part of each image and to experience the events of the dream from the standpoint of each. Encounters can be conducted between the images, and when they fight, the dreamer knows he is on to something important. The aim of the encounters is to bring the fragmented parts of the personality into harmony so that they help, not hinder, growth. Record your dream in the  first person/present tense, in order to bring it into the here and now and to re-experience the actual feeling of the dream.

LIGHT-IN-THE-DARKNESS-1

This image is so striking to me. Surrounded by blinding darkness, there is still light if we can just see it, and then take the courageous step to climb out of the darkness and into that light. It may only be one step at a time and each step may seem too much to handle but each step up is a step further away from down.

The power is within each of us, we just have to find it and hold onto it. No one can save us – we have to save ourselves. In this image, I don’t see that someone offered the ladder to help; instead I see that I built that ladder, one rung at a time, and the further I get towards the light, the more light shines upon me.

I have come along way from the girl who couldn’t see the light, the girl who…
