I understand a large part of Trump’s base is evangelical — I’m surprised I haven’t read about any of them concerned that Trump may be the new Antichrist.
I hear your honest struggle. A re-blog.
“The woman quietly watches the poodle family, and in her smile all memories are collected, the present and the past, all tenderness, all sorrow and longing. Her smile is without guile or deception, for it does not deny her bitterness and anger at a world without mercy. At a world in which we are executioners to ourselves as well as to others, and our own and others’ salvation as well. She has come home.” Burned Child Seeks the Fire by Cordelia Edvardson
I don’t know where I am in life. I am still in the present AND in the past and the two have not merged in a graceful space. There is no moment where I have accepted the past while looking forward to the future being grateful for the present. I don’t know what I think about God except that I don’t understand Him. I don’t understand what He…

The Daly Kos reports that an ethics complaint has been filed against Donald Trump with the Office of Civil Ethics for his recommendation to NFL to fire any player who takes a knee.
I’ve always wondered about this photo:

Most of those attending the gathering were Ginko bilobas, the longest living tree species, tracing back millions of years as opposed to the thousands which measure homo sapien as a species. The gathering had been called by the Ginkos, out of concern for the more recent and vulnerable tree species. Ginkos were the hardiest of all.
“We can no longer put up with the desecration of our world,” an ancient one announced. “The cockroaches can stay, but humans must be exterminated at a faster rate. Best to be rid of the deadly human scourge than risk total destruction of our celestial home. All in favor?” Agreement rumbled throughout the forest. Then one spoke up.
“I’ve come to love the children that visit and value my shade. Must we extinguish those also?” It was a young Ginko who questioned. “Are they not innocent?” Silence settled throughout the forest but was soon followed by a bitter Arctic wind.

So touching and brave not to run from your feelings. I so wish I had followed you example with all of my pets. I can’t help thinking a magszine devoted to pets would love to have this post.
First of all, I apologize for not posting sooner. Life kind of got away from me. I have been down with a cold turned bronchitis and spending time with Violet. Also, this has been a very difficult and emotional piece to write.
Last Saturday we took Violet to the vet. She had a lump in her throat that seemed to be growing, was not eating and had other symptoms that concerned us.
We were quite worried on the half hour drive to the vet. Violet is 13 years old and has several health conditions. We know she won’t live forever, but we also want to make sure she isn’t suffering.
The appointment showed that all of her lymph nodes are swollen and sore. The vet alluded to the fact this is not good and may very well be cancer. He took some samples and on Monday called to say that…

Bill Phillis, watchdog extraordinaire for Ohio, reports that the state of Ohio has allowed the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow (ECOT) to use public money in its public relations blitz to avoid accountability for inflation of enrollment and the state’s efforts to claw back more than $60 million. ECOT is notable for having the lowest graduation rate of any high school in the nation, as well as dubious quality standards. Its founder is a major contributor to elected officials. In return, he has collected many millions of dollars of profit.
Bill Phillis writes:
“ECOT has spent $33 million on ads, lobbyists, profits and lawsuits
since January 2016
“According to a September 3 Columbus Dispatch article, ECOT has spent $33 million on TV ads, lobbyists, lawsuits and William Lager’s for-profit companies since January 2016, all in pursuit of gaining state approval to continue to count students that are not participating.
“Over 400…

God made Adam out of the dust,
But thought it best to make me first.
So I was made before the man,
according to God’s Holy plan.
My whole body God made complete,
without arms, or hands or feet.
My ways and acts did God control,
but in my body He placed no soul.
A living being I became,
and Adam gave to me a name.
Then from his presence I withdrew,
for this man Adam I never knew.
All my Master’s laws I do obey,
and from these laws I never sray.
Thousands of me go in fear,
but seldom on the earth appear.
Later, for a purpose God did see,
He placed a living soul in me.
But that soul f mne God had to claim,
and from me took it back again.
But when from me this soul had fled,
I was the same as when first made.
Without arms, legs, feet, or soul,
I travel on from pole to pole.
My labors are from day to night,
and to men I once furnished light.
Thousands of people, both yung and old
did by my death bright lihts behold.
No right or wrong can I conceive;
the Bible and its teachings I can’t believe.
The fear of death doesn’t trouble me;
pure happiness I will never see.
And up in Heaven I can never go,
nor in the grave nor hell below.
So get your Bible and read with care;
you’ll find my name recorded there.

This puzzle was written by a lady in California in 1890 in response to a gentleman in Philadelphia, who said that he would pay $1,000 to anyone who could write a puzzle that he could not solve. He failed to do so, and paid the lady $1,000…
An honest woman!
That face you make when eating your first roasted brussels sprouts! OMG, I wanted to rinse my mouth out with bleach! THEY WERE HORRIBLE!

Perfect match! I can just make out the hoot.

The night envelops me like soft snow over a tree branch.
I become invisible to the two-legged creatures –
That’s why I choose to “be” only during the night.
