Glen Buttkus has posted my e-mail address but his site won’t accept my (favorable) comment. Why am I asked for my identity? What does atom mean? (Re d’Verse poem.)

Down down down for d’Verse

going through my mind
that of all the sh*ole countries
we’ve become one of a kind?
News re-blog
Published February 15, 2018 by Nan Mykel“While not all Americans agree on gun laws, roughly 90 percent of Americans support universal background checks. Trump’s budget would slash funding that improves background checks by about 16 percent, from $73 million to $61 million.”

What Do You Do When You Want to Write….
Published February 14, 2018 by Nan Mykel
and have nothing to say? Well, maybe tonight (7:41)
I can share some of the drawings from my journal, which are in my book which, predictably, no one wants to read. (An overstatement. I believe five people have). Shhh–it’s about incest!

IN REMEMBRANCE
Published February 12, 2018 by Nan MykelAlas, poor car, you did me no wrong!

If we forged a spiritual bond,
I broke it that February day.
Was I woolgathering or was his light
out? No mind. Spilt milk. Misdeed done.
I never knew the freedom you brought
me until the day we parted on
Route 7. O my Toyota Matrix
2003, how I miss you! I’m sorry.

Twice recently I’ve been asked for my e-mail address and when I listed my g-mail address it was not accepted. Any suggestions?

Looking for the Beautiful for d’Verse
Published February 9, 2018 by Nan MykelIt’s a bummer to complain,
especially in poetry’s domain,
where folks want to be lifted high,
helped to loving and to aspire
to transcendent nature and the rest
and bring out what in us is best.
But can one pretend that one is jolly
When all they can see is melancholy?
O turn your face to look at nature
and from its gifts select the pure.
Give up. for now, in finding love
and beauty in mankind’s trove,
for greed and sickly human pride
are rampant now and ride the tide.
Today, a Random Day in My Random Life
Published February 8, 2018 by Nan MykelI wonder what random means here. I just felt like writing today , “at random”–oh, I get it. It’s 12:51 p.m. and I’m still in my mis-matching pjs. And I’m sneezing like you wouldn’t believe. On Mucinex and nosespray. It’s too cold to go outside and get my mail.

I just sent an e-mail to U.F.’s Anthropology Dept to see if a notebook with “Seminole Town Compilations” is mine or UF’s, from 1962. I also called the office of the foot doctor who trims my toenails to see if I could pay my bill over the phone via VISA. They said I don’t owe anything. So far the day’s going well, tho I know I can’t come up with a poem for d’Verse’s Thursday night.
My computer helper is coming tonight and I’m going to ask her to help me print out “How to Use ‘Press This’ on Word Press” from “Hugh’s News and Views.” Since I’m without wheels she stopped at the grocers and got me chocolate milk and Vtamin B-12, which I’m out of. We didn’t get to Hugh’s Views due to another time-consuming job. Maybe I can tackle it myself. If not, you can read it there if it’s news to you, as it was to me. 11:20 p.m. I didn’t mention the television watching I did off and on. Yay for Nancy Pelosi for talking nonstop for 8 hours!
Don’t Mess with My Snapple*
Published February 7, 2018 by Nan MykelI’ve been infected by a history complete with crimes against the good of the public, like the buyout/death of alcohol-powered vehicles long ago, the man who holds the patent for a life-saving drug whose imposed cost has put it out of reach for the 99 percenters, and yes, even the recent theft of tips for underpaid waitservers. I won’t go into details, you can find it all out elsewhere on the internet. What I am fearful of is that the giant drink conglomerate that just bought out Snapple will do away with its diet brands (5 and 10-caloric Snapple). I had finally found a non-carbonated low-calorie drink (such as a lemonade-tea version) that I could drink for 10 calories a 12-ounce cup, and a 5-caloric equivalent of a peach-tea combo. My first thought was that Snapple was being bought to keep it from rivaling the larger diet drink companies. The only Snapple I could find at my grocery yesterday was the 120-calorie version. Surely a buyout can’t stop production so soon! It just put the fear in me and brought out my paranoia, in addition to everything else that’s happening nationwide.
