I Don’t Want to Do This

Published June 3, 2016 by Nan Mykel

Isn’t there enough stoney

lifelessness pelting like hail,

chasing children  down alleyways,

too scared to scream, safety’s lap now

gone, a void, missing, but where?

Pulling that tooth for no reason,

sandpapering the old child’s heart,

spoonfeeding loss?  Alas.

  • Truly a loss when children have no place of safety…I can relate. It leaves them floundering. This is a raw message, Nan, thanks for sharing. There are two links up for you but neither one connected to a poem. I’m assuming this one was written for the elegy prompt.
