15,000 Haitians who had been living in Chili and urged to leave by Chili’s government have been allowed in and are in process of consideration for staying. The President disowned the actions by some border patrolmen on horseback and ordered it to stop. I am still trying to figure out why editorialists pretend that Presidents have 100% control over all government employees 100% of the time. I believe that the number of biased civil service employees in border control and immigration services increased mightily during Trump’s years – they cannot just be fired without cause. Immigration is broken and needs fixing – yes. Are House and Senate ready to fix immigration? The President cannot do by himself.
