Trump’s Influence: “It is a very scary time for young men in America, where you can be guilty of something you may not be guilty of. … Women are doing great.” [Oct. 2, 2018]

“You’re Fired!”
Published October 14, 2024 by Nan Mykel
With horror and a sick stomach, I read that some minorities are supporting Trump because he’s entertainment. One photo was of a man wearing a BLACK MAGA cap. After all, Trump was a showman on YOU’RE FIRED! But this is a real fire-in-the-gut life, not a comedy…more like a tragedy.

Trump supporters target black voters with faked AI images –BBChttps://www.bbc.com › world-us-canada-68440150
Faked images of black voters with Trump are a growing disinformation trend in the US election, the BBC finds. BBC Panorama discovered dozens of deepfakes portraying black people as supporting the former president.
The fake images of black Trump supporters, generated by artificial intelligence (AI), are one of the emerging disinformation trends ahead of the US presidential election in November.
Unlike in 2016, when there was evidence of foreign influence campaigns, the AI-generated images found by the BBC appear to have been made and shared by US voters themselves.

DEI stands for “diversity, equity and inclusion” initiatives aimed at increasing representation of women and people of color in the workforce to address longstanding inequities and discrimination. The term “DEI hire” is used to suggest a person is not qualified and was chosen on the basis of race or gender. Reuters. Race or gender? Finally it’s acknowledged that women are being discriminated against? I read elsewhere that many countries are pushing to increase births–some rewarding mothers, others punishing and limiting them as “enslaved” citizens–(my reference to the illegal abortion entrapment).

A Little Verse
I’ll shake my feathers,
Rattle and roll.
Never thought
I’d get so old.
Going and coming to
the promised land
Out of the fire and
into the pan?
Or out of the pan
and into the fire?
If wishes were horses
What would you desire?

KILLER AI DEFINED
Published August 10, 2024 by Nan MykelThe authors define a Killer AI as a system employing artificial intelligence techniques that, either by design or by circumstance, directly lead to physical harm or death.
- This definition distinguishes between physical AI systems and virtual AI systems, with the intent of specifying how the latter can also be directly responsible for harm and death.
- AI systems that were previously incapable of being considered directly responsible for harm can now therefore be assessed more rigorously.
- To that end, the authors propose a framework that weighs the wellbeing of many people over the wellbeing of one or few people and on the basis that injuries not resulting in death can be recovered from more easily than those that do and are thus less severe.
Ensuring the Safety of this Emergent Technology
There has been no previous attempt to define the Killer AI phenomenon, even as the technology underlying it continue to become increasingly prevalent in our daily lives. The definition should help encourage further examination of AI and its risks—more comprehensive legislation, more appropriate regulation, more nuanced ethical discussion, and more research on the potential ubiquity of AI systems and how to minimize any harm they cause to the greatest extent possible.

NO TEST FAILS
Published April 5, 2024 by Nan MykelNO TEST FAILS
Students may, and theories, but
tests are hardy souls and tell
it like it is.
We have failed this test of tests,
that’s all. It’ll be back to
ground zero but minus us;
Someone or something else may
pick up the ball and run with it.
No…drop that metaphor now!
Sometime, somewhere, let there be
no such thing as power, greed
and competition. Maybe
get it right next time, although
if time doesn’t exist, when
and how? Not our ball of wax
to shape. We’re out of here soon.
It’s okay. The traits dealt failed
to mix, that’s all. We just flunked.
Glad to be taking A.I. with us.

Just Wondering…
Published January 30, 2024 by Nan MykelHENNY PENNY OR LEVEL HEADED?
Published May 13, 2023 by Nan MykelA discussion in the May 7, 2023 New York Times Magazine raises once more the question of what to do with the dangerous A.I. We already know it’s dangerous because we have seen its misleading affirmation of “reality.”
As mentioned in an earlier post, Geoffrey Hinton, an artificial intelligence pioneer and major developer of A.I. has withdrawn from its development.
On a recent Monday he officially joined a growing chorus of critics who say those companies are racing toward danger with their aggressive campaign to create products based on generative artificial intelligence, the technology that powers popular chatbots like ChatGPT.
Dr. Hinton said he has quit his job at Google, where he has worked for more than a decade and became one of the most respected voices in the field, so he can freely speak out about the risks of A.I. A part of him, he said, now regrets his life’s work.
The New York Times Magazine article of May 7, 2023 by Gary Marcus contains a grim warning and forecast: “People are going to make fake Guardian articles, fake New York Times articles, fake CBS News videos…because the cost of mis-information is going to zero.”
…”By the time the election comes around in 2024, nobody’s going to believe anything, and anything they don’t want to believe they’re going to reject as being A.I.-generated. And the problems we have around civil discourse and polarization are just going to get worse.”
