CHANGED MY MIND! I am NOT Starting New Blog

Published October 6, 2017 by Nan Mykel

I’ve found a blog that says what I would say, with a lot more organization, energy and putzbah (right spelling?  Maybe it’s even the wrong word).)  I’ like to recommend it to those of you who like to be a little more politically action involved than on the level of support,  personal-related,  unique experiences in our lives, coping or near healing experiences, wriing stories, books or poems and humor – in other words, the one I’m recommending is politically active and mine is same-oh-same-oh.. tho I can ‘t promise not to come up with excerpts from Dr. Rex  “It is what it is”;  Gronda Morin ; or    /dianeravitch.net/ on Betsy DeVos and charter schools from time to time.

The blog that I just discovered anew is     Melanie Nathan   O-blog-dee-o-blog-da

The Joke’s on Me

Published October 3, 2017 by Nan Mykel

Wow! I came close to losing it tonight. My helper was visiting and I thought it would be funny to have a photo of a crocodile among the several photos on my gravatar.  She helped me go ahead and make the crocodile my avatar so  (I thought)  whenever I had a particular kind of post I could use that one for my avatar.

Later, after that was completed, I happened to look at some of my comments and they ALL — back to the beginning of my blog about two years ago–had my picture as a crocodile!  In case you’re wondering, this was almost the  photo of me presented to the world with sweet blogs as well as raunchy ones:

So, in over reaction to my close call, I’ve at least temporarily changed it to me, in pink, tra la!

I FEEL A NEW BLOG COMING ON

Published October 2, 2017 by Nan Mykel

The current one stays, but I’m increasingly attracted to political postings and don’t want to drive those sick of politics away.

I’ll let you know when it springs, full-grown, into the WordPress pool.

I CAN’T SAY NOTHING AND DON’T WANT TO OFFEND OR BORE MY LOVELY FOLLOWERS!   No, I didn’t get this black eye fighting the good fight, only a conk while checking my oil many years ago, but it does portray another  part of me, n’est pas?

As my post on September 30, 2017 describes, this may be my version of LOONEY.

Don’t call yourself pro-life… Reblog

George is crystal clear. Who can argue with this?

Don’t even think about calling yourself pro-life if…

  • You support taking health insurance away from low income, sick, and disabled people.
  • You support abolishing or cutting Medicaid (which covers HALF of all pregnant women and 45 million children).
  • You  support privatizing or cutting Medicare and Social Security.
  • You want to abolish Planned Parenthood, which is NOT an abortion clinic (only 2% of their services are abortion-related) but provides healthcare (including pregnancy care) and birth control information to low income women.
  • You’re OK with a president who allowed CHIP (a health insurance program for low income children who do not qualify for Medicaid) to expire, leaving millions of children uninsured.
  • You support dismantling public schools.
  • You think programs like Meals on Wheels and school lunches are a waste of taxpayer money.
  • You think climate change is a hoax.
  • You support fracking, drilling, and mining on our public lands.
  • You believe in…

How Long is Looney?

Published September 30, 2017 by Nan Mykel

If we live long enough

it’s gonna be rough.

Tell-tale signs of age

spoken off the cuff

betray us and oh

how long and how sad

will it get to be

before…until…we

write bad verse and

yet don’t hesitate

to remember to

meditate on what’s

gone before and what

lies ahead instead.

Hey nonny nonny,

honey, if it’s not funny

why do we laugh at

our forget-me-nots?

When will we touch base

and head for home?

Not funny, dammit,

unless you’re like me

Easier to laugh

than it is to pee.

Ha ha got you there

You expected “cry.”

I know poor taste

when ‘ere I try

and will until  my

looney runs dry.

Ouch!  Tell me I

didn’t write this…

I understand a large part of Trump’s base is evangelical — I’m surprised I haven’t read about any of them concerned that Trump may be the new Antichrist.
