Today’s the terror day and my Spectrum isn’t working…
The ICE raids will tear families apart and terrify entire communities — all under moral cover from the religious right.
James Dobson claims that asylum seekers are “illiterate” and sometimes “violent.” Pastor Robert Jeffress says “Heaven itself is gonna have a wall.” Even Franklin Graham looks the other way, claiming that helping refugees is somehow “not a Bible issue.”
P.S. Do you know any immigrants who might suffer from these raids? The American Civil Liberties Union has put together a helpful page for them with tips like this: “You do not have to let police or immigration agents into your home unless they have certain kinds of warrants.” Please share the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights page widely, and ask your pastor to consider sharing it with your church too.

I live in an immigrant community, and have kept my eyes open all day, watching, but fortunately it has been a peaceful day, with no ICE vans or dark SUVs going about to strike fear. I was ready, however, to take my 18″ solid wood rolling pin and defend my friends & neighbors … I had already decided that the time for silence is long past. Thanks for that link … I will share it!

I agree. But I haven’t seen the list of cities they were going to hit. Have you?

I saw a partial list, but no, I haven’t seen the whole list. From what I’m hearing, it was pretty much a non-event in most cities. The Chicago Mayor posted an open letter in WaPo telling Trump that she had ordered Chicago Police NOT to cooperate with ICE, and the San Francisco Mayor also ordered police not to cooperate. New York says there were no arrests. I think it maybe fell flat, except it has immigrants, both ‘legal’ and ‘illegal’ nervous now.
