An honest woman!
That face you make when eating your first roasted brussels sprouts! OMG, I wanted to rinse my mouth out with bleach! THEY WERE HORRIBLE!

I just saw a photo of a 5-year old in a hospital bed, holding a new born. It was labeled “Youngest mother in the world.” I hope it wasn’t in one of those countries where rapists can escape punishment if they marry their victim.
Perfect match! I can just make out the hoot.

The night envelops me like soft snow over a tree branch.
I become invisible to the two-legged creatures –
That’s why I choose to “be” only during the night.

Love the entire poem, especially the dilapidated skin of the moon. I’m re-blogging.

This fear
is the long slow heartbeat of that clock,
the tocking of hours and
the clicking of keys.
It seizes the day in fits and
starts and sputters, utters vapor
words to a chalkboard sky,
blows desert wind,
breathes fire;
a dragon moon in dilapidated skin.

Campus Pride today releases its 2017 Shame List highlighting for the second year in a row a national listing of “The Absolute Worst Campuses for LGBTQ Youth.” Up from 102 campuses last year, the national listing includes 139 campuses that openly discriminate against LGBTQ youth in policies, programs and practices as documented on the site listing. Find the detailed list online at
According to Campus Pride, the 139 campuses have a learning environment that is not supportive and “not safe” for LGBTQ people, particularly transgender students, staff and faculty. Seventy of the colleges listed have received Title IX religious exemptions to allow discrimination against LGBTQ people and 32 campuses have pending Title IX exemption requests. This is up from 58 campuses last year holding discriminatory Title IX religious exemptions and 17 campuses having pending requests.
“The Shame List uncovers the religion-based bigotry that is unsafe, harmful and perpetuates harassment toward…

Me: If you were asked to differentiate me from others, how would you respond?
You: Are you fishing for compliments? Me: Far from it. Come on, what would you say?
You: Depends who I was talking to.
Me: You’re beating around the bush.
You: Let’s turn it around. I’ll ask you the same question.
Me: Well, an old woman.
You: Is that all? There’s lots of those.
Me: How about something that’s lovable?
You: Oh. Uh, you are kind to animals except those you eat.
Me: And…?
You: You try to be creative.
Me: Is that lovable?
You: Why do you want to be seen as lovable?
Me: So that people look at me with warmth.
You: You mean so that people will like you?
Me: That sounds like I’m needy and insecure, doesn’t it?
You: I’m glad you said it and not me.
So very true I’m re-blogging. Thanks!

Daily reflections on Stubbornness – September 10/17 (troiku)
Troiku’s a new form of haiku created by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai
When I’m moved to pen a verse, I first run through metaphors and see which one grabs the me of the moment….. Suddenly I am approached by a squirming nondescript thing that I cannot process because it is so alien and so set on frightening me. It succeeds.

What preceded the above: Today, walking down my path I caught sight of a strange animal out of the corner of my eye, just as it was scurrying to safety under under a clump of pampas grass. It was perhaps 3 inches long, coal black, furry, and appeared to be running on four legs. Is anyone familiar with this being, or were my eyes playing tricks on me?
A man of courage and integrity. I’m re-blogging.

There is an old joke that if you are not depressed, you are simply not paying attention… and I submit that most of the time people are not paying attention, and that is how we keep finding ourselves here, over and over again.
Be that as it may, every morning the sun shines, the rain falls, and the tide goes in and out, the birds sing, and people help each other, and babies are born, and people fall in love. It is beyond doubt a beautiful world, and one well worth saving. I know that I made a conscious choice to come here, to see that this beautiful place becomes the garden it was meant to be, whether this means the human race lives here, or not. When I bring my attention to the beauty and sacredness of this Earth, and of every star and universe, I feel connected to it all, one grateful drop in an ocean of love. When I focus on human affairs, it is easy to become discouraged and depressed, so as often as I can, I return to my meditation practice and I get outside and feel the beauty. Music helps. Helping others helps too. We are all here together experiencing life, and we have a choice mainly whether we bring love, or fear, hope or despair, to ourselves and to others each day. So don’t feel bad about being depressed — it is a part of being conscious, just like joy. i find the best I can do is remember that the choice of what I put my attention on and my energy in is mine, in every moment.
So, fellow traveler, I hear you, and I send you a little light to start your day, and I thank you for all you have done in 72 years to bless this little planet, because everything counts… Mahalo nui loa — thank you!
