
During the past month I have received two separate false e-mails, both from friends on my e-mail list, telling me that they were sending photos that they should probably have sent earlier, and I would probably remember. When I opened them I saw PR about Oprah Winfrey. There may have been more in the e-mail but I got rid of it quickly.
(Just a word to the wise, as my teacher used to say.)

Mississippi used corporal punishment on students 4300 times last year. (And that’s a lot fewer than it was just a few years ago). Use of corporal punishment on special education students was responded to by a 2019 state law which banned the use of corporal punishment on a student with a special education classification.

…on the back covers, I snagged the first copies of The Economist I ever saw, found on the free shelf at the public library. …A delightfully surprising read. I was especially surprised at the information that we used artistic deceit in World War II. I’m quite behind the times, apparently. Date of the publication was December 19, 2020 and the article was military deception BODYGUARD OF LIES.
