VERY RANDOM THOUGHTS

It’s difficult to be thirsty when there’s only gasoline to drink

I recommend those trying to button down go to voyager.jpl.nasa.gov. and go to WHERE THEY ARE NOW.

When did the flying saucers land and disembark?

There’s no room left in the ICU inn for those who catch the virus from the attempted takeover!

Ah Pence, you disappointed me.

We have no allies left to protect us!

Calm down, Nan. Have some gasoline.

WISE WORDS FROM KEITH

When people do not push back on a tyrant

When people do not push back on a tyrant, they should not be surprised when he does tyrannical things. Five people died Wednesday, but that was the culmination of four years of corrupt and deceitful behavior….and a very fragile ego. The most ardent of fans of the tyrant were endangered by the tyrant’s instigation of violence. The legislators who supported the tyrant’s efforts were found quivering in the Capitol Building worried about their lives. If they stood up and said, “but, I am on your side,” they could have been killed or hurt. It is easy for Republican legislators and leaders to be courageous now, but when it was needed is when honorable diplomats, public servants and inspectors general raised concerns at great risk, knowing they would be fired for so doing. Yet, they did it anyway. I watched honorable duty bound people like Dr. Fiona Hill and Ambassador William Taylor testify under oath, only to be grilled by the tyrant’s toadies, who should also have taken an oath to tell the truth. Inspectors General like Michael Atkinson, Mitch Behm and Glenn Fine lost their positions, as did cybersecurity director Chris Krebs. Their crimes – telling inconvenient truths. Former Intelligence director John Bolton condemns Trump now, but he left diplomats hanging with their testimony as he remained silent about the Ukraine extortion issue. Bolden was quoted as being very critical of the Ukraine extortion attempt and shadow diplomacy, but screwed these diplomats with his silence. Other former cabinet members are emboldened to criticize the tyrant now, but did they do enough to protect America from his whims and deceitful behavior at the time when needed? And, for those who still support this tyrant, they need to answer a lot of questions. The tyrant’s actions led to five deaths, but he endangered the lives of his fans and the legislators who supported him as he has done before to support personal gain. There is a term for that – it is called sociopathic behavior. Will the tyrant be removed from office before his term ends? I do not know. But, no one deserves to be removed more than this ego-maniacal, corrupt and deceitful acting person. With too many Republican leaders not speaking up, especially during his staged voter fraud claims, more than his ardent base believe his BS. Note to followers, he lost the election because he got fewer votes. And, in spite of the claims of conspiracy and fraud, the tyrant and team have lost 59 out of 60 court cases and every recount. He cannot lose more than he has already. Sadly, more Americans will get hurt with the emboldened extremists who have emerged from the shadows. If you doubt this, some of the more extreme groups that support the tyrant are already speaking online of worse things to come. Make no mistake, the tyrant and his toadies have blood on their hands, I just pray it is not more. Our country deserves better. Keith

HERD MENTALITY IN HUMANS

Published January 9, 2021 by Nan Mykel

We don’t have sports to drain our energy.  Or the money to purchase the luxuries which are rubbed in our face every day—a regular weekly magazine feature  of best buys in multi-million dollar homes; the Jimmy Choo shoes many of us only hear about, don’t see.  The drama of covid19 too frightening to admit.  Flooded by the crazy-making evangelicals who preach God and vote Satan– what’s a red-bloodied American boy to do?  Or girl?

Especially when they can identify with a cute naughty fast-food sexy rebel who, as one fan said, just makes her feel good to look at? The natural thirst for meaningful discharge of energies has been drained, leaving us vulnerable to quacks.  Who was it that said “Let them eat cake” during an earlier revolution?

I was struck by the almost joyful madness of the invasion of the capitol, as seen on television—the occasional joking and self-assurance that might was making right again.  The charged chanting of “USA! USA!” was reminiscent of much earlier, younger, more innocent times.  I heard the strains of the dregs of hero worship.  I witnessed  frustration, impotence, and yearning for a misappropriated just cause.  And madness.

HEAR YE, HEAR YE

You can be a Republican and still be honest, but possibly you can’t be Trump and still be a real Republican.

I hope the inauguration won’t be a super-spreader.

I don’t think it’s productive to villify those who were acquiescent until njow. The present and the future is all we’re got now. I don’t want to waste my present in outrage. That’s Trump’s script. Never knew shaming helped anything.

This isn’t a Pollyanish response–it’s very pragmatic.

TOTALLY unrelated question: when you say something’s on the right or left side, are you inside looking out or outside looking in?

WHAT MOVES YOU?

I may be primarily talking to other females, since it appears we have more access to the emotional realm than males, but let’s not stereotype! So, I’ll just talk about my own experience, and you can try it on for size.

Images have the power to touch me directly, bypass thoughts and go straight to that place in the unconscious which is vulnerable to experiencing something like beauty. There ought to be a different word for that tingly connection between in here and out there. The photo above touches me whenever I see it. I almost always find myself smiling when I experience it. It’s almost like it elicits empathy in me.

I looked up beauty on Google and see that it’s been taken over by personal attractiveness. So what is the word for what I mean? I’m talking about what produces a warm soothing fulfilling experience in response to a (shudder) “stimulous.” Sex and scratching don’t count.

Webster said “pretty” (shudder), then “qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.” That’s more like it.

So, I guess for me beauty is a feeling that strokes my insides, and can be quite restorative, a real pick-me-upper. Thinking of restorative I remember being surprised by how soothing it felt when I googled “birds.” I think I responded to their vulnerability and the unbelievable variety in their coloring and other features. I suspect another thing that moved me was seeing how evolution has produced such great and–yes, beautiful variations in birds, a very handy treatment for mild depression. Well, I see this began with a sleeping pony and ended with birds, which doesn’t seem to have anything to do with personal attractiveness.

If anyone “Likes” this, maybe they can share their appreciations in a comment?

PEACE

Published January 5, 2021 by Nan Mykel

INNER PEACE –  If you can start the day without caffeine
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can conquer tension without medical help, If you can relax without alcohol,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,  Then You Are Probably The Family Dog
And you thought I was going to get all spiritual …
Handle every Stressful situation like a dog.
If you can’t eat it or play with it, piss on it and walk away.
