I vow that in spite of the darkness I will double down on my efforts of personal growth. I don’t mean I will hide in myself, but I will not let the hate and fear distract me. I will be strong and centered as I resit the dark.

I wish you strength and joy in your struggle. It does sound like you’ve let go of your 2013 despair.

Is there a way to stop hating? When it is, more often these days almost impossible not to?

I’m far from perfect, and not religious, but sometimes use the religious route when needed. I have prayed not to carry hate for someone around with me, and re the red-headed man I at times (like this) try and focus on his insecurities. I’ll have to think a little more on this.

The insecurities of the people one has learnt to hate is indeed an area to think of while the hate/resentment is almost unavoidable. Thought last night – how could one not hate the perpetrator/s? If one didn’t one would almost admit to it being okay with what has happened and that’s not possible. If only there wasn’t so much of crime!

Excellent post.
We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
One who is injured ought not to return the injury, for on no account can it be right to do an injustice; and it is not right to return an injury, or to do evil to any man, however much we have suffered from him. ~ Socrates
