About once a month, for a number of years now, I have woken myself in the morning by either the SOUND of three loud knocks, a phone ringing, a non-existent doorbell ringing, or my cell phone ringing. This morning someone softly said my name. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only time I hallucinate.

I understand it being possible to have such experiences. My mother came to ‘visit’ a while ago – I think to warn me against something.
Someone is trying to tell you something. Best to find out who it is and what she/he is trying to say. If you meditate, choose it as a topic if you don’t want to see a spiritualist. Check your dreams.

Thanks for the sharing. I fear it started too long ago to have current meaning. I’ve always suspected it’s my unconscious’ clever way to get me up. The unconscious is the home of metaphors, I think.

If it’s been happening for years, regularly, being woken up in a way out of the ordinary, it’s to be taken note of. Don’t shrug it off. I’m sure it’s a kindly situation. Much regard.

I remember reading..WAY BACK WHEN.. that your mind is something like a tape recorder. Playing back what it has recorded in the past. But, from time to time, it will go into a fast-forward mode and play something from the future.
But.. tape recorders are now passé.
I’m guessing it’s your subconscious thinking out loud.. Questioning itself.. if it (you) will ever hear these “callings” again. (just a guess) 😉

Re the future in dreams: Actually I have a copy of J.W. Dunne’s “Experiment with Time.” I thought about trying his experiment, but recording those dreams that might occur in the future takes a LOT more time and effort than those that might resonate from the past. The world is interesting, is it not.
