Grim and unacceptable. The gun and death situation, I‘m speaking of. The only possible action I can think of is to have a nationwide swap of non-lethal weapons for guns immediately, like right now. They’d go quicker for cash, but I don’t want to enrich gun sellers.
And we shouldn’t swap guns for tasers. We know they can be lethal. There are decent non-lethal weapons available to trade for guns, and I’m not talking knives or machetes or baseball bats, but available gadgets (I have one) that can protect your person without killing the attacker. Remember many of our citizens are afraid to be without protection. Hurry. This remedy or another. No time to waste. Life is getting too cheap. To the families, condolences.

Well, your idea is a good one, but has a few fatal flaws. First, those ardent gun nuts aren’t about to let go of their guns … not for money, not for anything. Second, they would lie … give you one gun and not tell you about the arsenal in their garage. Third … your device that doesn’t kill the attacker misses their point … they want to kill. Sigh. I’m afraid it’s going to take more than that, but I applaud you for trying.

Thanks for the response, but there really is a chunk of them who want guns for protection. We could pay for tattle-tellers as we may have done for resurrectionists (?), but that may cause more deaths. Of course there are many today who could use $100 fir food. Maybe $5 per gun would be tempting, for large caches. O, I can imagine a huge national pit of melting guns being tended by the families of victims. The movement may tempt nervous mothers with small children in the house, or abusive husbands.

Such a small portion of gun deaths last year was attributable to ‘self-defense’, that in my book, it is just another excuse. If nobody had a gun, we wouldn’t need one to defend ourselves. Sigh.
